In the interests of making the entrepreneurs life simpler and easing the cost of doing business... CIPRO - the Companies and Intellectual Property Registration Office - has introduced an annual fee for Close Corporations.
As from the 1st May 2008 all CC's will be eligible for an annual fee of between R100 and R4,000 depending on turnover.
"In keeping with legislation, the Registrar of Close Corporations needs to determine whether a registered organisation is still in business and to confirm the Registrar is in possession of the latest information of the close corporation, each close corporation is compelled in terms of the Act to lodge an Annual Return once every year."
This return must be lodged before the end of the month following the anniversary month of the corporation. For example, if your CC was formed in June, you have until the end of July each year to lodge your return and avoid the R150 penalty for late submission.
